Not all companies who manufacture dishwashers have a portable models. And some of them have only one portable dishwasher model that is built simply to represent their presence on that part of market.
I'm gonna reveal some of the most wanted models that you can check out first. I believe that you can use them as comparison to any other model you are checking out to buy. I'm not saying you should be overly careful when choosing a portable dishwasher, but spending some time in order to get what is best for you is a rational action I believe.
First manufacturer, GE, has four compact dishwashers under the name of Nautilus. GE made them that way so you can easily convert them to under the countertop models. Their wood grain laminate tops are great if you want to have more workspace so bear that in mind. It's a great thing that you can place them the way it suits you best. You can use one of these model's abilities for about $500. Nautilus is a bit pricier then other poratble dishwashers, but GE is a reputable company and provides the value.
Next comes Frigidaire with its two compact dishwashers. Their models are quite buffed, with several features that come in full sized dishwashers. You will be able to use 12 place settings and five level washing system. There is a nice option of 6 hour delay, which is great if you need to handle your schedule. Both their models have a sound reduction package - they are almost impossible to hear while turned on.
Frigidaire portable dishwasher No.1 is a 18" model that is the best space saver around. it has less space then the model described above, only 8, but it also has a sanitizing cycle as well as ability to clean pots and pans, which require hard settings. It is not as packed with feature as 24" width Frigidaire model, but you gain more space with it. These models have a retail price around $450. Of course, you can try to find them at a sale and save yourself some money.
We have two more models coming from Whirlpool and they are similar in size to Frigidaire models. The advantage of Whirlpool compact refrigerators is that they have self cleaning filters and the smaller one has 10 place setting. The prices for these models are $400 and $500, which is close to Frigidaire models.
And finally, Maytag. There are two models with 14 place settings that have more jet spray nozzles then other compact dishwashers, which give them an advantage. Other features are comparable to the feature of other manufacturers. And the price is quit similar to others, so it will be really hard for you to decide which model to buy, since they have similar prices and features.
Your decision could be affected by your previous experiences with certain brands and with your ability to find some of these portable dishwashers on sale. But you won't go wrong with neither one of them, so don't take to much time in deciding for the brand. If one of the models has what you need, go for it. Your only goal should be to find it at affordable price.
