Detailed Dishwasher Buying Guide 09/08/2009
A dishwasher is almost a necessity for any household as no one like to do the dishes day after day. At the end of the day, it is not uncommon to have arguments on who is going to wash the dishes or whose turn it is to dry these today. The best and most practical way of putting an end to such arguments and to ease out your physical strain in the kitchen is to have a dishwasher. It’s a worthwhile investment. As is the case with most of the durable consumables, there is such a large variety of domestic appliances available that one gets a bit perplexed deciding which make or model to buy. Same is true of dishwasher too. Before you really go out to buy one it will do you a lot good to equip yourself with the preliminary techno-commercial information on the product. The information will certainly help you in taking a right decision. Rather than deciding by its features or price, you should consider what you are looking for in a dishwasher. The first thing that comes to mind about any equipment is its size or capacity. If you go for a dishwasher that has too large a capacity, you will be wasting a lot of water, time and power. On the contrary, too small a size will keep you tied down with its repeated operations. So, you should have a machine with a tub just large enough to hold your dishes for the day. Keep in mind the size of your family and have an estimate of dishes that need to be cleaned on a regular basis. Another factor that you should not ignore is the size and shape of dishes that you often use. All the machines are not designed to hold all odd shaped dishes, though machines with tall tubs can do the needful and have a large capacity. The idea should be to ensure that the machine can hold all kinds of dishes; otherwise what’s the fun of investing if you still have to do part of dishes yourself. Next on the line is its housing. You surely wouldn’t like to keep it in your living room or the bathroom perhaps! Look and measure the space and spot in your kitchen you intend keeping it. Unfortunately, there is no model that could be fixed on the wall. It’s surely going to eat into your floor space. There are models available to fit under the counter of your kitchen. Check on your available space, else create some, as that‘s the only way to fit in the most appropriate place and that happens to be your kitchen. Well, portable models are also available and offer the advantage of easy shifting, if you are required to move frequently from your present dwelling unit. They further offer the flexibility of being moved within the house. Some models of portable dishwasher come with butcher block-style tops that blend into your kitchen a bit more conveniently. It’s about time that we get a bit more concerned about environments and save energy. No doubt, most of the dishwashers are made to conform to the minimum standards as defined by the federal government; there are models that surpass those standards. These models are marked with an Energy Star Logo. Such marked models save 25% more energy that specified by federal standards. That’s a great way of helping to maintain healthy environments while saving on your power bills. Good temperature sensors contribute to the efficiency of a dishwasher. Water temperature should at least be 1350 to provide an efficient wash. Then, there are sensors to sense the quality of water used for cleaning. Spend some time while finalizing a dishwasher as there are many factors to be considered. CommentsLeave a Reply |
